The Methods of the Enemy

“Words are cheap, as the old saying goes; but, shrewdly used, they are powerful weapons. What the Communists do in their psy-war propaganda is to turn upside-down various words which have attractive meanings to people in non-Communist countries. For example, “peace” to us means just that — a condition in which there is no fighting in a given area. When the Reds yell for “peace,” or “peaceful co-existence,” they mean that the people in any non-Communist country must hold still while the Communists take them over and en-slave them — by violent fighting if they can’t do it peaceably.”
